I use cocoamodem too and like it a lot.

I have an Griffin iMIC (USB sound card interface) and a SL-1+  
connected to my ICOM 756 PRO II via the accessory connector on the  
back.  This works well for me, I haven't had any problem getting the  
PTT in the SL-1+ to work.
