Don, I would like to see MacLoggerDX add a feature for all of us "rag
chewers" and "net managers". I envision this added feature as a journal
tool. I always have a small notebook next to my operating position and tend
to write a call sign, start time, QSO notes, and end time for each contact I
make. During nets and log QSOs, the notebook often has several pages of
notes associated with the activity. When I am involved in the Hurricane
Watch Net, the notes can become critical and extend over several days.
Other nets are less important, and simple rag chews are just fun.

After a hurricane, I often find myself pouring back over the notes for after
action report items or simply lessons learned. After other nets I often
copy and paste the net notes to send to association presidents and net
managers so they can see who was on, signal reports, and the jest of what
was said.

During rag chews - I often speak to a ham, who I have spoken to before, and
it would be neat to be able to recover the notes from previous contacts
similar to the way I can now view a log of previous contacts.

One way to approach this feature would be to make the current note portion
of the log clickable so that it opens in a separate window that can be moved
and sized. Ideally, the journal feature of MacloggerDX would take advantage
of the Mac OS built-in text tools, editing and spell check features.

Don, as the Swiss Army Knife of Mac amateur radio programs, MacloggerDX with
this feature - would be the first logging program I know of that actively
supports the majority of casual hams who primarily get on the bands to talk.
All the other features in MacloggerDX are great - and have certainly opened
many doors of convenience. But, while it has replaced my paper logbook, it
has not replaced my simple notebook. I would like to see it do that as
well.

BTW, one of the things I have started doing - is use a USB jump drive to
store my logs. That way - whether at home, work, or on the road in the car
- I have the opportunity to share the same log between the office computer,
home computer and on the road notebook computer - without worrying about a
merge issue. This works great when I access N4OLT - our club Internet
Remote Base ham radio station.
