The Keyspan adapters with mini DIN-8 connectors work fine, but they  
are RS-422 ports and need a special cable to work with RS-232  
devices. This special cable used to be called a "Mac Modem Cable" and  
it can be bought or constructed very easily.

A more likely problem with the FT-847 is the odd wiring of the RS-232  
port requiring a special cable.

There are a large number of MacLoggerDX customers using Keyspan  
adapters with the Yaesu FT-847 and I'm sure one of them will be able  
to help you with the cable.

There was an extensive thread on Ham-Mac less than a month ago on  
radio interfacing and the Keyspan adapters.
