Dave, it is clearly a scam, I amazing that the item went from "he paid too
much to let it go so cheap" yesterday to "a state of disrepair" today. If it
was damaged, he would gladly sell it to recover some money.
I would take him to town with ebay.

Obviously I have forwarded his mails to eBay to (not) deal with.
The thing is, he is UK-based and pursuing this legally is not half as much
hassle as he thinks it would be if I lived in the States.  And he'd lose!!
