I know, I just wish there was something I could do to fix this.

Right now with the "Radio VFO" check box unchecked, you can hit the 
"Log QSO" button and then enter the frequency and mode into the log 
fields of the Log Panel directly and hit save. This should accomplish 
the same thing in as many key strokes shouldn't it ?
