Death in Jewish Tradition and Lore

with Len Hausman

Monday Mornings starting November 13th // 9:30 am // In-person and Zoom

There is no more uncomfortable subject than death, even more so in these
times. Rituals and practices around death are a window into a culture's
beliefs and views not just of death, but also of life. They can be viewed as
psychological defense mechanisms to soften the reality of death and pain of
loss for the bereaved. They function as guides to how a community supports
those in grief. While there is no one way to mourn, they offer a roadmap for
those who have lost a loved one.

For more information, Zoom link, or to RSVP, please contact: Joi Noel,
Clergy Administrative Assistant - jnoel at cbi-nj.org <mailto:jnoel at cbi-nj.org>
, or call the office.

CBI Sisterhood Rosh Chodesh Program:

A Moment of Gratitude

Thursday, November 16th // 6:30 pm // CBI

This has been a particularly painful time for us as Jews. We must
acknowledge that. But we must also make room for hope and gratitude. Psalms,
prayers, poetry, and classic texts point us toward an attitude of gratitude.
Join Rabbi Helaine Ettinger for a Sisterhood Rosh Chodesh program exploring
Jewish texts on gratitude as we draw closer to Thanksgiving.

Dinner will be served @ $15.00 per person.

RSVP or questions: susanzelman at gmail.com <mailto:susanzelman at gmail.com> or
516-458-4630.
