Dear congregants,

Earlier today an unknown individual wearing a ski mask ignited and threw
a “Molotov cocktail” at the front door of Temple Ner Tamid in
Bloomfield. Fortunately, the device did not work as intended and as
such, the damage was limited. See theannouncement
<https://mailchi.mp/jfedgmw/gmw-incident?e=e23fd27801> from Greater
MetroWest Federation.

At CBI, we were in touch with the Millburn Police as soon as we became
aware of the situation. They assigned an officer to our parking lot who
will remain there throughout the rest of the day until midnight and
continuing until 7am tomorrow morning. An officer and police vehicle
will be visible from all angles in our parking lot at all times. The
officers have been given Steven Rod’s cell phone number should there be
a need to communicate anything to us, and they have a key card should
they need access to the building.

We want to emphasize that there is no indication of any immediate threat
to CBI, but in an abundance of caution, we are working with Millburn
police, along with our regular security provider, to have additional
security on site.

As with other recent threats to the Jewish Community, we are grateful
for the support, cooperation, and responsiveness of the Millburn Police.
They continue to be excellent partners in helping us keep the CBI
community safe.

Stay tuned for an announcement of additional steps we we are taking to
further upgrade oursecurity at CBI.
