Dear CBI Mishpacha,

 

Boker tov. Good morning.

 

We just finished the celebration of Hanukkah, the celebration of the
festival of lights. 

 

Yet on each day of the eight days of Hanukkah, there was darkness -- there
was an attack against fellow Jews in New York. Last Saturday night in
Monsey, fellow Jews were attacked as they celebrated Hanukkah. Fellow Jews
were attacked in Brooklyn. On Christmas day, there was a random attack on
fellow Jews in a bagel store in Teaneck.  And just a few weeks ago fellow
Jews were killed in Jersey City. 

 

The range of emotions we have go from scared to defiant, quiet to outrage,
withdrawn to in your face.  Whatever you are feeling now, no one can deny
that our daily lives as Jews living in America, as we begin 2020, is
different than as we started 2019 or 2018.

 

In order to provide hizzuk - strength/comfort as members of the CBI family,
we will hear about the attacks; what Jewish leadership is suggesting on how
we can react and time to pray together.  Please join us THIS FRIDAY EVENING
AT KABBALAT SHABBAT services which will begin at 8:00 PM - not the usual
8:15 PM.

 

Join us so that we can shout out loud - we are stronger together! We will
overcome this. We can gain comfort in praying, singing and talking with each
other.

 

We look forward to seeing you this Friday at 8:00 PM.
