[CBI] Tisha B'Av at Congregation Bnai Israel this weekend.....

Dear Kehillat CBI - The CBI Community, 

Tisha B'Av, the day on which we commemorate the destruction of the two
Temples which stood in Jerusalem, is a day set aside for solemn reflection
and introspection. Please join Cantor Wallach and me for services on
Saturday night at 9:00 p.m. and Sunday morning at 8:00 a.m. The Book of
Eicha (Lamentations) will be chanted on Saturday night to the light of
candles (and flashlights), we will chant kinot and we will engage in a
thought-provoking discussion on the "Meaning of Tisha B'Av in 2019." On
Sunday we will read Torah and chant kinot.

Additionally, on this, the saddest time of the Jewish calendar, as we mourn
the loss of our Temple, I invite you to join with a host of Essex County
synagogues for a community observance of Tisha B'Av to mark the attempt to
close America as a welcoming haven for immigrants and asylum seekers and to
call for justice and compassion for those being detained. This alternative
service and recitation of Lamentations will take place this Sunday, August
11, at 10:00 a.m. in Newark in front of the Peter Rodino Federal Building
(972 Broad Street). We understand the program will last 60-75 minutes.  You
may want to bring your own siddur if you want to daven. Please let me know
