CBI Social Action Trip to McRoberts, KY
Sunday, May 19 through Wednesday, May 22nd.
CBI is returning to Kentucky! Our last annual trip will take place from
Sunday, May 19 through Wednesday, May 22nd. CBI has been going to McRoberts
for almost ten years. Congregants, with support of Rabbi Bayar and The Good
People Fund organizers, spend time in the community directly helping
residents. This is a wonderful opportunity for adults of all ages and
college students home from school! If you are interested in participating in
our social justice initiative in McRoberts, please contact Rabbi Bayar or
call the synagogue office at <tel:(973)%20379-3811> 973-379-3811.
CBI Chanting Circle
The Song of Songs in Song!
THIS Sunday, April 14 at 5:00 p.m.
Join us in the Chapel for our annual CBI Song of Songs themed Hebrew chant
and song circle with musical accompaniment. In preparation for Passover when
it is read in the synagogue, we will be exploring selected passages from the
Song of Songs set to beautiful, compelling, yet easy to sing melodies. There
are more musical settings for the Shir than any other Biblical text. Come
find out why!
The intention of chanting is to awaken the divine in our hearts. It can
soothe the mind, and at the very least is simply fun to do! No prior
knowledge of Hebrew or singing ability necessary.only a willingness to join
in spiritual community.

Holocaust Remembrance Program
Tuesday, April 30 at 8:15 p.m.
in the Sanctuary
Our synagogue remembers ... a Holocaust commemoration program in conjunction
with Voices of the Generations. Julie Kohner has been a Jewish educator for
over thirty years, with a master's degree in educational counseling. After
Julie's mother, Hanna, a Holocaust survivor, passed away in 1990, Julie
began to create educational programs to honor the victims and survivors of
the Holocaust. Her goal was to teach the Holocaust as seen through her
mother's eyes. This was the beginning of Voices of the Generations, a unique
and personal approach to Holocaust education.
Join us for this important evening of remembrance.

The Story of the State of
Israel Through Its Music
Four Class Min-Session on Monday Mornings
April 29 and May 6, 13 & 20 from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Music is an ideal way to learn about a country's history and culture. In the
initial module of this class we will be learning about Israel's first two
decades through the music of Naomi Shemer, who is known as the first lady of
Israeli song and poetry. Her music is regarded as the soundtrack of the
lives of Israelis who came of age in the 60's, 70's, and 80's. The class
will be led by Len Hausman.
