Torah Portion: Acharei Mot

In this portion we read about the laws of the atonement sacrifices, the ways
in which the Kohanim would effect these sacrifices for the atonement of
their persons, their families and the entirety of Israel. 

 We are also commanded about the forbidden sexual practices.

CBI Chanting Circle

Join us the Chapel Sunday, April 13th at 5:00 p.m., for an hour of
inspirational Hebrew chant and song with musical accompaniment.   

We will be exploring the unique love poetry of the Song of Songs.  

The full text is read in the Synagogue on Shabbat Pesach.

Be prepared to sing your heart open, soothe your mind, and let your spirit
soar!  

No prior knowledge of Hebrew necessary.only a willingness to explore
spiritual community.

 

 



McRoberts Recognition Shabbat & Oneg

POSTPONED

Unfortunately, our guests from McRoberts, KY will not be able to join us on
April 25. 

We are postponing this recognition Shabbat and Oneg for a time when we can
celebrate our efforts together.

In the meantime, if you are interested in participating in CBI's annual
social action trip to Appalachia, please let us know!

The trip will begin on Sunday, June 8, returning by Wednesday, June 11 or
Thursday, June 12.

memories of their father's experiences of living in France during World War
II and the expulsion of French Jews during the Shoah.

Candle lighting ceremony in conjunction with Men's Club Shoah Yellow Candle
Program.

Names of CBI family members who perished during the Shoah will be read
aloud.

A Social Action Program of Congregation B'nai Israel

 

May 5, 6 and 7

 

Millions and millions of dollars worth of new, discontinued, overstock, or
slightly damaged products are thrown away each year by retailers. Some
socially-conscious retailers, such as Bed, Bath & Beyond, Lowe's Hardware,
Entenmann's Bakery, and Crate & Barrel, however, donate their unsellable
items rather than discarding them. The Redistribution Center, makes it
possible for these valuable household goods, food, toys, office supplies,
construction supplies, cleaning supplies and other items to find their way
from stores to local, regional, national and even international
organizations who serve those in need. 

CBI hosted Ranya and a truckload of goods for seven years (until 2005)

and we are bringing her back once again for three days during the first week
of May.

 

We need volunteers to unload, sort and distribute the materials.

This will take place in the Social Hall at CBI.

has participated in a local softball league,

competing against other Men's Clubs in the area.
