What did you do to get the DMD bit working?

I have now brought my MBP (that Apple will no longer be allowed to be
upgraded, so some not up-to-date OSX) out and got it is some sort of
order. I have DMD installed via MacPorts. I also have LDC installed but
it is not visible to SCons at all.

So I am now at Stage 1: all the LDC and GCD tests are ignored and all
the DMD tests fail because DMD is found at tool set up time but not a
compile job execution time.
