build cache and i've been using it for years

scons builds a target and then quits claiming:
03:04 < vandenoever> scons: *** [tests/target.pdf] No such file or directory
03:05 < vandenoever> in the build step, i check that the file is there
and readable and it is, also after the run it is there and simply fine
03:06 < vandenoever> i've looked with strace to see what file scons
tries to open, but i dont see what file that is
03:06 < vandenoever> another thing: i've added 'sync' as a step in the
build just to be safe
03:23 < vandenoever> ah! found it and it's not scons fault at all
