[reportlab-users] Font size, baseline and typography stuff

I'm not an expert.

The expression "Width" can mean several things.

Think of the text "VA". The sum of the widths of the letters "V" and "A"
may be greater than the width of the text "VA" (with kerning enabled).

I think it is natural to define the width of a text in a slanted font as
the width at the base line,
not taking the slanting into account.

Otherwise (if a slanted X was wider than a plain X), the spaces would be
too wide when creating a sentence from the individual words.

You should be able to avoid having the slanted text run into the right
border by specifying a padding of at least 1/2 em.
