[meteorite-list] Ensisheim sample provenance?

Here is a question for members with an interest in the history of meteoritics.
In our collection we have a sample bought from the Krantz firm in 1842. An older, pre 1840, lable associated with the specimen reads:

Aerolite d'Ensisheim
CL

Who might the signature CL refer to?
I can provide a scan.
