I think Jason has the best, most likely theory yet.
Looking at those images solved another geo mystery for me. Last year I
found a "ribbon bomb" I had no idea how it was made until now, reading
through some literature on volcanic bombs.

It looks like a volcanic bomb. Larry noted that it was found amongst
other volcanic rocks, and the outside does appear to exhibit "flow
lines" - I'd bet on its being volcanic. If it is one, it's one of the
better examples I've seen from the southwest.
