Hallo Martin,

What is even more interesting in the Raphael you posted is the absence of the Latin inscription on the captioning plaquet. I believe there was one and that, and this is just an assumption based on the position of the Church vis a vis things celestial and cosmic in the quatrocentro, that it was removed as being heretical. The crudeness of the technique of the over painting of the plaque belies any connection to the master. It very well could be that this is the first censored painting of a meteoritic event.
