J'ai lu sur un forum (http://meteorites.superforum.fr) des propos à la limite de la diffamation de la part de Monsieur Laurent Jaworski et d'autres participants à ce forum, dont certains se cachent derrière des pseudos.

On me reproche ainsi qu'au Professeur Albert Jambon (CNRS) d'avoir caché pendant des semaines l'existence de la première météorite trouvée à Draveil et d'avoir obtenu par des procédés peu glorieux cette pierre.

Etant exclu de ce forum, je ne peux pas me défendre autrement qu'en écrivant sur la meteorite-list.

Je vais donc relater les fais tels qu'ils se sont déroulés et non pas tels qu'ils sont décrits par les membres de ce forum.

Le 21 juillet 2011, les propriétaires d'un pavillon à Draveil me contactent par email pour m'informer qu'ils ont trouvé sur le toit de leur dépendance une pierre curieuse qu'ils pensent être une météorite. La photo jointe au mail confirme quasiment cette hypothèse. Ils ont trouvé mon nom sur google où est référencé mon site personnel.  J'informe les propriétaires que je me rendrai sur place avec le Professeur Jambon qui pourra authentifier de manière scientifique la météorite puis pourra en effectuer l'analyse et l'enregistrement au Bulletin.  

Nous nous rendons sur place le 22 juillet dans l'après-midi où nous rencontrons les propriétaires.  Ils nous montrent la pierre et les lieux où a eu lieu l'impact. La météorite a été cassée en deux fragments par les découvreurs pour voir ce qu'il y avait dedans. Après avoir proposé d'acheter la météorite, les propriétaires refusent par deux fois ; ils sont désintéressés et préfèrent que l'un des fragments me reviennent pour ma collection et l'autre soit exposée au Museum de Paris avec qui travaille le Professeur. Je note que j'aurais pu aller seul à Draveil sans en parler au CNRS et garder la pierre pour moi seul...  mais comme j'ai de bons rapports avec le Professeur, je ne procède pas ainsi.

Engagement est fait de ne pas communiquer pour le moment les coordonnées des propriétaires à leur demande car ils ne souhaitent pas, je cite, "être importunés par les chasseurs de météorites". 

Le CNRS et le Museum de Paris souhaitent en outre effectuer les analyses avant de communiquer publiquement sur la découverte sous la forme du communiqué de presse qui sera publié mi-octobre.  J'accède également à cet engagement pour leur laisser la primauté de la communication de cette découverte.

On me reproche plusieurs choses :
- ne pas avoir communiqué avant sur cette chute : c'était un engagement tri-partite, la parole donnée est la parole donnée
- avoir un fragment de 105g dans ma collection obtenu "illégalement" ou par des procédés douteux, dixit certains membres du forum.  Mon explication ci-dessus, qui pourra être confirmée par les découvreurs s'ils se manifestent un jour, prouve le contraire. 
- "s'associer avec un scientifique, bombarder tous les sites et blogs, ça paye au final". On sent une pointe de jalousie. Il faut se bouger pour trouver des météorites, pas rester assis derrière son micro comme certains membres du forum.  D'ailleurs, Monsieur Jaworski communique aussi largement sur d'autres blogs et medias. Il n'a  donc aucune leçon à me donner.  Il se prend pour un chefaillon.

Je tiens également à préciser que je ne me suis pas rendu une seule fois à Draveil après cette première découverte, mon emploi du temps ne me le permettant pas durant l'été et la rentrée.  
Le MNHN travaille activement avec la mairie de Draveil et dans l'Essonne pour sensibiliser les gens à chercher dans leur jardin, Brigitte Zanda donne d'ailleurs une conférence dans l'Essonne dans quelques jours sur le sujet.

Je réponds en mon nom, peut-être que le Museum et le CNRS réagiront à ces propos portés à notre encontre.

Right of reply to Mr JAWORSKI

I read some messages on a forum (http://meteorites.superforum.fr/) on the edge of defamation on the part of Mr. Jaworski and other participants in the forum, some 
hiding behind nicknames.

I am accused, me and Professor Albert Jambon (CNRS), for hiding for weeks the existence of  the first meteorite found in Draveil and for obtaining by inglorious methods this stone.

Being excluded from this forum, I can not defend myself other than writing on the meteorite-list.

So I'll relate how this history took place and not as described by the members of this forum who don't know the truth.

On July 21, 2011, owners of a house in Draveil contact me by email to 
inform me that they have found on their roof a strange 
stone they think is a meteorite. The photo attached to the mail almost confirms this hypothesis. They found my name on google which is referred to my personal website and because of the fall in brittany. I inform the owners that I will be there with Professor Jambon that can 
authenticate scientifically the meteorite and could then perform the 
analysis and recording in the Bulletin.

We go there on July 22 in the afternoon where we meet the owners. They show us the stone and the place where the impact occurred. The meteorite was broken into two fragments by the discoverers to see what was inside. After proposing to buy the meteorite, the owners refuse twice as they are not interested in money and prefer that one of the pieces come back to me for my 
collection and the other is exposed to the Museum in Paris working with 
the Professor.  It's an equal deal. (I mean I could have gone to Draveil alone and get all the stone for me but that's not my ethics)

Commitment is made to withhold for the address of the owners at they 
requested because they did not want to, I quote, "to be bothered by meteorite hunters."

CNRS and the Museum of Paris also want to perform the analysis before releasing 
publicly the information about the discovery in the form of a press release published mid-October. I go also to the commitment to give them the primacy of communication of the discovery.

People on the meteorite superforum reproach me several things:
- Failure to provide information prior to mid-october : it was a tripartite commitment, the word is the word
- Have a piece of 105g in my collection obtained "illegally" or by methods questionable dixit some members of the forum. My explanation above, which can be confirmed by the discoverers if they occur one day, proves otherwise.
- "To be associated with a scientist, write to all websites and blogs, it pays in the end." says Mr Jaworski. We feel a touch of jealousy. We must worl to find meteorites, not sit behind the computer as some forum members. Moreover, Mr. Jaworski also communicate widely on other blogs and media so he has no lesson to do.

I also want to clarify that I did not went back to Draveil after this 
first discovery, my schedule does not allow me in the summer and autumn.
The MNHN is actively working with mayor of Draveil in Essonne  to 
educate people to look in their garden ; Brigitte Zanda (MNHN) also gives a 
lecture in the Essonne in a few days on the subject.

I'm replying on my sole name, maybe CNRS and Museum of Paris will answer in another message.
