[meteorite-list] Email conventions was What?! & now FACEBOOK

Well said Mark

Soapbox mode: on. Using all CAPS in a "specific" word vs TYPING EVERYTHING IN
CAPS. I use them to focus attention to subtle points and do not think anyone
should or would regard this as SHOUTING in an aggressive overtone. With all the
nuisances of email's differences in communicating over other media, including
its casual and often colloquial means of communicating where "spelln and
gramitical errans are oftern-wise" overlooked for that very matter--it is just a
part of the climate. We are obliged to invent conventions to clarify meaning and
facilitate reading. With the insufferable casual use of endless quotes within
quotes and never changing SUBJECT lines, I feel the personal choices one uses in
email are just that personal choices and should not be critiqued by questionable
conventions established by no specific authority over how one chooses to
communicate. There is still the delete button convention-- which will be used
on this very message. Soapbox mode: off

Thanks given for all the friends and colleagues around the world for their
safety and somber mental reflection for those who were not so fortunate.

Elton
