Hello list,
depending of microscope exposures most people think about thin section.
They show nice colors and sometimes special structures well used for
petrogaphic studies. But there is an other possibility to study the
micro structure of minerals, - the use of a reflecting light microscope
with polarising and color selecting filters. This images are ever very
colorful too and this colors are mostly real. Reflecting microscope
studies allow you to detect on a certain slice thousands of regions, -
day for day new structures and if you have seen enough you must turn
your probe only an a certain angle and the microworld you see is every
