[meteorite-list] It is a sad day.....

Dear Martin,

absolutely nothing?

- a meteorite such as Winona, with the fragments ritually burried in a
stone-cist by the Sinagua Indians - is a research-object of Archaeology;
- a nameless iron meteorite, transformed to a dagger and burried together
with the treasures of Tut Ach Amun - is a research-object of Archaeology;
- pieces of Cape York, Toluca, Gibeon, transformed to iron tools - are of
course parts of human history;
- the black stone of the Kaaba, subject of religous adoration, is a highly
important cultutral object (if it's really a meteorite);
- the Mesa Verde meteorite, wrapped in feathers when found in a prehistoric
ruin - is a research-object of Archaeology indeed ...

... as you surely know ;-)

Matthias

Archaeology is the science dealing with ancient times and human history.
This kind of science has absolutely nothing to do with meteorites, neither
are meteorites research objects of that science. (...)
