This happened to me a year ago. It not only took over my email, it dis-abled my nortion anti virus protection!!

My brother who is a IT tech for a local unversity Told me to go on line and download the free MALWAREBYTES program (anti-malware)
So I did, I ran that and it it got the root cause of the virus! that took over my computer!

After that my norton worked fine! and started finding spi cookies!

I would do that ASAP.

I got one of these from a neighbor in the building... someone who I don't normally email with and someone who does regularly travel out of country, so... I very much suspected it was a scam but "responded" and carried on a conversation with whoever had hijacked her account... I'm not sure how she finally resolved it... I think by completely deleting that particular account (which was also a yahoo account I believe...)...

If you do change your password on the account, try to do it from a different computer because the one you normally use might have a password sniffer or trojan...
