[meteorite-list] World's Biggest Impact Crater Discovered

It says the object that made the crater would be  about 25 miles in 
diameter...that seems to be way too large to end up with life  recovering like it 
did. It also suggested that it could have been the cause of  the dinosaur 
extinction and then suggested it might have caused the Volcanic  Deccan traps? 
Weren't these two events a couple hundred million years  apart?
