Hi Martin, Mike

And others thinking of leaving for meteorite hunting trip to Denmark
(Lolland).

I totally agree with you, that the present Danish laws regarding ownership
of meteorites, in practice will led to that the museum in Copenhagen will
get just a tiny fraction of this fall, compared to a situation with more
liberal laws.

Furthermore, I think this is very unlucky, as it apparently seems to be a
quite rare type (CM2), and I would assume that the museum and Dr. Haack
wants to have a good choice of material to study.

An idea would be to contact Dr. Haack directly (hh at snm.ku.dk) and discuss
the situation.

Maybe, such a discussion can open up a legal way for private hunters to
collect meteorites on Lolland, bringing the bulk to the museum, and also get
a permission to bring some pieces back home. It's worth a try.

Regarding Mike Farmers indication of expenses staying in Denmark, I do not
agree. I would say that you can survive very well on about $ 250 per person
and day, including a rented car, if you are 2 persons sharing the car and
accommodation. Regarding the accommodation, I assume that you are staying at
a standard countryside inn, and not eating dinner at luxury restaurants
every day!

Thomas
