Hello Bernd and List,
in any civilized group of people, either a Nation or a list, or even a
little sports or social club, I see no reason a gentleman wishing well
to other people must feel the need to apologize for his kind words, if
his words are sincere. They shouldn't irritate anyone who has caught the
right meaning of democracy, even if he/she is on the "loser" side. As to
whether off topic political comments should enter the list, my little
valued opinion is that politics is first of all passion, just like any
other genuine human activity, meteorite
collecting/hunting/selling/studying among the others, so isn't it
forgivable to offer a few lines of our precious internet space to such a
non-meteoritical but rather important event like the USA presidential
election? (sorry in advance for any capital letter I may have missed).
Does it happen sometimes that people in a fishing club do not speak of
the biggest fish and chat about politics? Just a comment or two, to let
us remember that we are still "social animals" able to transfer thoughts
and emotions through the speech, possibly a polite one.
And Mr. Swartz... "idiot" is a moral judgement if you apply it to
evaluate someone's opinion, and moral judgements are something about
even thoughtful philosopher are still pondering. Please remember that
Cynism was not used as a privileged position to offend people.

Just personal opinions, of course. All the best to everyone.

Leandro
