LONE ROCK, SASK - Two small rocks embedded in the ice of a farmer's fishing pond are the first discovered fragments of the meteor that lit up the sky last week.

They were found yesterday by University of Calgary geologist Alan Hildebrand and graduate student Ellen Milley.

The pair have been scouring the area 15 km south of Lloydminster for several days, talking to witnesses and triangulating the information.

Hildebrand said the landowner, Ian Mitchell, now owns the meteorites and any more found on his land. They're worth $1 to $10 per gram. A head-sized rock could fetch up to $50,000.
