you may ask Dr. Ursula B. Marvin of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA (umarvin at cfa.harvard.edu).
She has authored quite a few papers on famous people in Meteoritics, both professionals and amateurs, and surely knows a lot about Nininger and his backgrounds.
