[meteorite-list] Morrison's comments

Hi all -

I write this with sadness and tiredness.

Just taking a minute here to mention that within the
impact community it is well know that Morrison used
about every trick around to prevent Clube and Napier's
work on cometary impact from gaining a wide
circulation and financial support - in other words,
doing everything he could do to suppress it and work
on other recent impacts.

It was a truly sad finale from one of the pioneers in
the impact field. A wrong turn on injection
mechanisms, blindly defended down to the dismal end.

But the cometary impactite layer at the holocene start
is undeniable. Morrison's recent comments over the
last few weeks reflect his awareness of that these
facts are not going to go away.

Fortunately, all of Morrison's NASA emails documenting
his really trivial and petty behavior over the last 10
years have been electronically archived, and thus will
be available for the use of future historians of
science.

Please let Morrison's earlier error slide into the
past. Please give him the space to change his mind.

It's also hard to ignore 20 feet of marine sediment,
and occasionally, its also hard to ignore the big
round holes in the ground. The hunt for the arctic
irons is on, and good luck to all.

good hunting,
E.P. Grondine
