Hello Martin and Stefan,

In the 2005 Treatise on Geochemistry Vol 1, "Meteorites, Comets, and
Planets", in the chapter on Classification of Meteorites written by
Krot, Keil, Goodrich, Scott, and Weisberg, they provide an argument why
Lea County 002 is no longer thought to belong to the Kakangari grouplet.
They give as the reasons the following, excerpted from the book:

-------------------------------------------------------
Lea County 002 was originally classified as a Kakangari-like chondrite,
although Weisberg et al. (1996a) reported differences in matrix
abundances and chondrule sizes by comparison to Kakangari/Lewis Cliff
87232 (33 vol% versus 70-77 vol% and 1.0-1.25 mm versus 0.25-0.5 mm,
respectively). CAIs in Kakangari and Lea County 002 appear to be
different as well (Prinz et al., 1991a). Mineralogical observations
(Krot, unpublished) and oxygen isotopic compositions (Figure 4) suggest
instead that Lea County 002 is a CR chondrite.
-------------------------------------------------------

Let me know if you would like to use any of my photos from my site and
I'll send you a jpeg, but the specimens are in a safe deposit box and I
don't have simple access to them for any hi-res photos, sorry. You can
probably do better for most.
