Hi Greg and List!
#2: Yes! Here is a list of some minerals, which were found in
meteorites, but not in terrestrial rocks so far (to my knowledge). If
someone has additional information or correction please post them
:
- Barringerite (Fe, Ni)2P only in iron meteorites
- Carlsbergite CrN only in iron meteorites
- Cliftonite C (a special sort of graphite) not known in
terrestrial rocks in this form
- Daubréelithe FeCr2S4 in iron meteorites
- Djerfisherite K3(Cu, Na) (Fe, Ni)12S14 only in E-type
chondrites
- Kamacite
- Taenite
- Plessite
- Farringtonite Mg3(PO4)2 in pallasites
- Maskelynite Na-Ca-Al-Silicate
- Niningerite MgS E-type in chondrites
- Oldhamite CaS (not known in terrestrial rocks; but will be
generated by some sorts of smelting processes)
- Perryite (Ni, Fe)5(Si, P)2 in iron meteorites
- Sinoite Si2N2O in E-type chondrites
Information was taken from:
von RÉTYI, A., Aumann, G.: Meteorite Boten aus dem Weltall,
Naturkunde-Museum Coburg, 1996
Its possible, that some of these minerals have been already discovered
in terrestrial rocks since 1996
Hope that helps a little!
Best wishes
Ingo

Betreff: [meteorite-list] Questions
Hello List:
I have two questions:
1. Has any rock formed on Earth been found containing Chondrules
in it? If so, what kind of rock and where was it found?
2. Are there any minerals found in Meteorites that are NOT found
(or formed) on earth.
Much Thanks,
Greg S.
