[meteorite-list] Permit Needed to Hunt Meteorites on Parks in Canada

Hello Ron and list,

Part of the article...referring to a possible way to hunt meteorites in 
Manitoba Prov., Canada.

"Hildebrand said he is not aware of any province that asserts its right
to ownership of meteorites found on Crown land."

This is something I have heard before from Canadian people that should know 
otherwise....of course, you should not consult a scientist for law matters 
as you would not consult a lawyer about your meteorite classification.

While researching Bruderheim....an Alberta province fall I found the 
following in the Bruderheim article that was done by Alberta university in 
1961...which can be found on NASA's site of which a link is provided below.

IT INCLUDES the bill referenced when made into law, which I have quoted part 
below.

"....no matter where a meteorite falls, public or private owned later, that 
no person, other then someone authorized by the Minister, shall disturb any 
crater, furrow or other marking on the earth's surface that may have been 
caused by the object or disturb or remove the object from the place where it 
fell.  The ownership of every meteorite that falls anywhere in the Province 
after the commencement of this Act is herby vested in the Crown.
