DHAKA, Feb. 1 (Xinhuanet) -- A suspected meteor from the outer space
that fell with big bang in northwestern Bangladesh Tuesday is being
sent to the Atomic Energy Commission for test, private news agency
UNB reported Wednesday.

The lead like black material was found 3 feet (90 cm) below the
earth in the field of Singpara village in northwestern Thakurgaon
district Tuesday afternoon.

Weighing 2.5 kg the triangular shape material looked like a mortar
shell. But goldsmiths said it seemed to be a costly live touchstone.

Zarina Begum, an eyewitness to the fall of the suspected meteor, said
she heard sound like that of a fighter plane. Soon something fell
about 100 yards (91 meters) away on the onion field with a big bang.
She raised an alarming cry. People from around rushed tothe spot and
found smoke oozing out from a hole.
