[meteorite-list] Aubrite? NOT!

Hello everyone interested in the "EL6" that is being confused for an
aubrite.

In regards to the large amount of EL6 material that is most likely paired to
NWA 2736, there is one Moroccan dealer who has self analyzed this material
and proclaimed it to be an aubrite paired to NWA 2736. It is most likely
paired to NWA 2736 according to scientists, but it is NOT an aubrite. The
mineralogy is different than aubrites. I have been in close talks with some
scientists who have studied this material (and are currently studying it,
along with aubrites) and here is what he writes in an email to me:

"... Matteo or his sources figured out that it (latest EL material) was the
same as NWA 2736 and his NWA 1067, and NONE of this is an aubrite - it's all
a fairly weathered enstatite-rich achondrite or more likely an EL6 with
altered metal in fracture fillings. Hopefully the NWA 2736
mis-classification will be corrected eventually, ..."

I have been to Morocco several times in the last two months and have seen
first hand the EL6 material and how the Moroccans are being fooled by this
one Moroccan's erroneous statements regarding the classification of this
"EL6". In fact, I just got back last night from my most recent trip. I
should be able to shed more light on this subject very soon.

Best regards,
