[meteorite-list] Information about Randsburg iron meteorite

Hi Pierre and List,

I will try to answer your questions in regards to the Randsburg Iron:

It was found sometime in the 1960s by rock hounds around the China Lake area
in the lava beds while searching for minerals. China Lake is in the Mojave
Desert California, USA. Randsburg is the town in the vicinity of the find
where the meteorite sat in a rock-shop for over 35 years after being
purchased from the mineral collectors who found it.

It weighs 18.2 Kilograms.

It is still under study but a few things are known like it is a course
octahedrite (3-4mm Bandwidth) with elements that, to the best of my
knowledge, have never been reported in an iron meteorite before including
tellurium or telluride, I forget. It is currently under study at the
University of Washington and I believe UCLA will be doing the bulk analysis
because of the odd and unique minerals that were identified, at least for a
meteorite.
