Dear List Members,

today I want to introduce a new howardite, NWA 2890. It is for me a very
nice example of this interesting meteorite type. All slices comes with nice
polishing on one side and the prices for the specimens are reasonable.

Found 2004
Achondrite (howardite)

A single stone of 132 g was found 2004 by an anonymous finder in the North
African Saharan desert. Classification and mineralogy (A. Greshake):
polymict breccia with eucritic and diogenitic fragments embedded in a
clastic matrix; contains dark impact melt fragments; eucrite clasts consist
mainly of frequently exsolved Ca-pyroxene and plagioclase; plagioclase,
An96.4-97.3; pigeonite, Fs37.3-53.0Wo9.3-13.4; augite,
Fs23.0-31.1Wo39.6-43.3; minor phases include olivine, Mg-Al-chromite and
ilmenite; diogenitic lithologies are dominated by sometimes zoned
orthopyroxene, Fs18.8-32.0; low degree of shock; low degree of weathering.

thin sections MNB.
