Thanks Mark,

For your post, which reminded me of Nininger's
earliest observations about the recovery of large
meteorites "so near the surface" and the "problem" of
giving "wind erosion" all the credit for being the
prime agent for exhuming these large masses.  Would be
interested in hearing from others that have first hand
information about surface conditions local to where
meteorites were found "on top of the ground".
