WHO WAS THAT LITTLE GREEN MAN I SAW YOU WITH LAST NIGHT?
By RON DARLING
Herald Staff Writer

No little green men, or anything like that, but there are several
people in Lethbridge and district who will swear they saw a flying saucer
Sunday night.
A strange light was seen about 7 p.m. in many parts of Alberta.
One witness was Rev. Rupert MacLellan of Milk River who was traveling
to Lethbridge about 7 pm. with two companions when they spotted a light "the
size of an ordinary dinner plate and the same shape - with a green tinge."
The light traveled at a great speed and was "coming straight down"
about four miles east of the highway.
Father MacLellan said he thought at first it was a meteor but did give
some thought to the possibility it might have been an Unidentified Flying
Object.
One report indicated that a couple saw the strange light at 7 a.m.,
Sunday, 7 p.m., Sunday and again at 7 a.m. Monday, but this report was not
able to be confirmed.
Alice Pollock of Lethbridge was traveling from Coaldale to Lethbridge
about 7 p.m. Sunday when she saw what she believed from the first to be a
flying saucer. The "thing", she said, was pancack-shaped and changed color,
while lights on the top blinked. It appeared to be coming in for a landing
in the Broxburn area, she said. Mrs. Pollock was definite in his mind that
the "thing" was not a meteor, or an airplane since it changed its course
abruptly.
Other witnesses were teenagers Terry Gordon and Anne Stengl of
Lethbridge. They were out for a walk minutes after 7 pm. Sunday when they
saw the object "with either revolving or blinking lights on the top hanging
in the sky like a star."
Suddenly, Terry Gordon said, it darted off at a "fantastic" speed. The
couple called Anna's parents to see the object and soon neighbors were out
watching it, too.
The colors of the object would change in a pulsating manner from red o
blue, green and gold, he said.
Anna's father, John Stengl, saw a similar object earl in the morning,
Terry said, and he had called Anne to view it.
The object's behavior could be described as erratic, Terry said. It
would bob up and down for a while and shoot off in different directions at
fantastic rates of speed.
The group of people watching it for the better part of an hour, Terry
said, during which time an airplane flew overhead. "We could definitely see
the different between it and the plane," he said.
It appeared to him to have been almost toplike in shape.
Many people, hopeful of seeing the object again at 7 o'clock last
night, were outside with the eyes of the sky. The could covering was fairly
heavy around 7 p.n., however, and only report received was that of what
appeared to be a star "bobbing" in the sky.

The NPA in the subject line, stands for Newspaper Article. The old list
server allowed us a search feature the current does not, so I guess this is
more for quick reference and shortening the subject line now.
