50 YEARS AGO

Tuesday, 60 MPH winds overturned a house trailer on Route 66 out 
near Babbitt Tank. At least 300 cars became ensnarled before 
deputies got the traffic back under control. Numerous signs were 
blown down and the building at Meteor Crater became unroofed when 
the door was blown open. They hope to make the estimated $50,000 
in repairs for an early August reopening.
