COLBY METEOR IS CAUSING A SENSATION

Marshfield Herald: S. A. Williams of Colby was in Marshfield Wednesday
and had with him a good-sized piece of the meteor that fell at that place on
July 4th. The past week hundred of people have visited Colby to view the
scene of the phenomena and examine the fragments of the big meteor that were
unearthed by Mr. Williams on the Jordan Farm in the city limits. Mr.
Williams says the Colby meteor is one of the largest that has ever fallen
and been recovered in this country, weighing over 300 pounds. When it
entered the earth it struck a large stone and was broken and splintered, the
largest piece being found between four and five feet below the surface. As
a terrific explosion occurred just before the meteor struck, an explosion
was heard 20 miles distant from the scene, it was figured that the huge
meteor burst when entering the atmosphere that surrounds the earth's
surface. This is evidenced from the fact that one of the fragments found
back of the Lutheran church and the other on the Jordan farm, a half mile
distant.

PDF copy of this article, and most I post (and about 1/2 of those on my
website), is available upon e-mail request.

The NPA in the subject line, stands for Newspaper Article. The old list
server allowed us a search feature the current does not, so I guess this is
more for quick reference and shortening the subject line now.
