Hello to the List,

I have to add some information about meteorite in
Spain as I'm becoming a "specialist" and fan of this
country for meteorite hunting.

In my opinion, it's the best country to find
meteorites in Europe.

I went three times to Spain (one month in total) for
meteorite hunting and found each time one meteorite.

I'm the proud finder of the main mass of Villalbeto de
la Peña (observed and filmed fall : look at the
picture of my find :
http://www.meteor-center.com/collection/images/collectionperso/palencia.jpg)
and a small fragment.

I also explored the desert of Bardenas Reales
(norhtern part of Spain, near Zaragoza, a really dry
land which was used often for "Western" movies, TV
ads, as it looks like US landscapes. I found a 750g L
chondrite (moderately weathered) in 2003.

I didn't go to Tabernas desert (south of Spain) but
it's one my future trip.

Spain is full of good spots for hunting meteorites,
mainly in its southern part.

All other european countries are covered with
vegetation (except maybe Portugal, Italy, Greece...)
so it'll be hard to find meteorites.

Pierre
