The West Linn Chamber of Commerce gave the district a replica of the
Willamette Meteorite.

The replica will be displayed at the Center for Research in
Environmental Sciences & Technologies in Wilsonville.

The $1,200 replica weighs about 30 pounds, is about two feet long and is
made of fiberglass and resin composite, said chamber president Mark
Buser. The meteorite weighs nearly 16 tons, is about 10 feet long and
consists of metallic iron. Discovered in 1902 by a farmer in West Linn,
it is now in the American Museum of Natural History in New York.

The center plans to use the replica to educate West Linn-Wilsonville
students about the history of the meteorite and the solar system.
