DANIEL M. BARRINGER
             MINE ENGINEER, DIES

Haverford, Penn., Nov. 30 - (AP) - Daniel Moreau Barringer, 69,
attorney, mining engineer, geologist, and descendent of a distinguished
southern family, died today at his home here from a heart attack.
Mr. Barringer was a son of the later Daniel Barringer, who served as
minister to Spain and was a member of congress for North Carolina. He
practiced law here for 20 years. Entering the field of geology, he compiled
a standard work on mining in collaboration with John Stokes Adams. During
research in the west, he was credited with discovering the origin of the
famous meteor crater in Arizona and the celestial body which formed the rare
strata. He was an officer and director of various mining companies here and
in New York.
Surviving are his widow, the former Margaret Bennett of Phoenix,
Arizona, and eight children.

PDF copy of this article, and most I post (and about 1/2 of those on my
website), is available upon e-mail request.

The NPA in the subject line, stands for Newspaper Article. The old list
server allowed us a search feature the current does not, so I guess this is
more for quick reference and shortening the subject line now.
