[meteorite-list] fireball seen??

Hi,
  It's 2305 or so I'm outside with my astronomer friend using my new 10" Dob
and we both saw an odd phenomenon in the sky - to the right of Jupiter -
towards the west - it appeared as a yellowish white truncated
(foreshortened?) cone reducing rapidly in size to nothing.
No sound was heard.
It was odd - it looked initially that something was skipping off our
atmosphere...
 
any ideas?
