Hello, hullo, hi Listees and Listoids,
Eucrites predominately contain pigeonite and plagioclase. The pigeonite usually
contains tiny grains of iron metal which makes these meteorites slightly magnetic
Reference: NORTON O.R. (1998) Rocks From Space, 2nd edition, pp. 205-206.
Apart from this, Dhofar only contains accessory amounts of metal (plus troilite and
chromite). Metal is presented as two varieties: kamacite (Ni 4.99 wt%) and taenite
(Ni 50.5 wt%).
Reference: AFANASIEV S.V. et al. (2000) Dhofar 007 and NWA 011:
Two new eucrites of different types (MAPS 35-5, 2000, Suppl., A019).
Best wishes,
Bernd
