It does unless you have something set in the mode mapping prefs.

Yes MacLoggerDX Automatically stores 2 sets of persistent Prefs. One for Voice and one for non-voice.

Yes, your band plan selects the mode dependant on the frequency...

The Band Plan popup lets you choose from the supplied Band Plans. You can also edit the sample band plan file delivered with MacLoggerDX, place it where it will be backed up and select it with the Custom popup item.

One reason to do this would be to define sub-band modes to suit your operations. For example one sub-band could be where you are looking to work Packet. You can choose any mode for that sub-band that is available in your mode popup (bold text, not italicized) and therefore available on your radio. This ability to automatically choose a mode based on frequency extends to Auto Tune in the DXCluster panel as well.

...and the mode mapping prefs select what to display it as.

The mode popup in the VFO Panel reflects what mode the radio is actually set to.You can change the mode mapping of USB to PSK (or anything else) with theModes mapping pref and when you select USB from the mode popup it will display and log as PSK. If you decide to work USB, then you just change the mode mapping from PSK back to USB with the mode mapping pref and when you select USB from the mode popup it will display and log as USB.If you want to assign specific modes to specific bands or sub-bands then edit the sample band plan delivered with MacLoggerDX and add the actual radio modes desired for each sub-band and select it in the Station Prefs.

Editing the Mode text in the DX Panel will automatically adjust the mapping so that your change will "stick" until you edit it again or change the Mode Mapping in the Prefs.
