That doesn't tell us which USB/Serial adapter you are using but it  
shows that whatever it is - it is using the Prolific chip.

You need to check the "Software/Extensions" entry in the System  
Profiler to see if you are using the latest Prolific driver.

The Prolific drivers are available on their web site...
