While we are advertising competing products on the dog park supported
list don't forget Aether Log:
http://www.aetherlog.com/index.html
and OrcaStar:
http://www.orcastar.com/
Although it looks like Orcastar's "QSO Wizard Pro software for Amateur
Radio Operators" is in a period of transition.
Rick, please don't mistake this post for sarcasm, I honestly wish that
there were more than 3 or 4 of us to provide software for the entire
Mac Ham Radio community. It is growing at a great rate and there
should be dozens of options to choose from, but sadly very few
programmers have been lured by the dizzying fame and fortune :)
Sadly, just this week we have lost MacHamRadio <http://www.machamradio.com/
>
Cok Chen has asked for volunteers to continue the great work he
started with his open source project CocoModem, none have answered the
call.
<http://homepage.mac.com/chen/>
EchoMac another fine open source project written by Steve Palm (N9YTY)
has been looking for volunteers for years...
http://echomac.sourceforge.net/
Again, only Steve Titsler has stepped in to help support this fine
effort.
I know most of you will say "But I'm not a programmer!" and this is
true, but I wasn't born a programmer and we are all amateur radio
operators and as such we should all be excited by the technical
challenge of mastering the new technology surrounding us.
This is a call to arms. Are we appliance operators or are we
innovators ?
Anyone writing a Mac Ham Radio application without the resources to
host or distribute it can expect free distribution from Dog Park
Software.
This was a service that Steve Muncy offered on MHR but sadly, no one
took him up on it.
Have a great idea for a feature that MacLoggerDX does not currently
support ? Research it on the internet, use Apple's free XCode
development suite and make it happen !
Extend the functionality of existing applications like B. Scott
Andersen did with his excellent Cab Converter...
<http://groups.yahoo.com/group/cab-converter/>
Write some AppleScripts to extend MLDX...
<http://dogparksoftware.com/mldxscripts.html>
I will continuously strive to improve MacLoggerDX, but it will never
do everything for everyone.
BTW Rick, I am not picking on you, I just used your post as an excuse
to sound off on something that has been puzzling me for years - Where
are all the Mac Ham Radio programmers ?
