I get the same problem with my IC-746Pro RigBlaster pro and MacLoggerDX.  It
happens in any mode, usually randomly.

I have MacLoggerDX 4.0.1 on a G4 running 10.3.6.  DTR and RTS are not
checked.  I'm using a KeySpan db9 serial adapter.
