Dear CBI Members:

As we look to the future of our community, the Board of Trustees has made an
important strategic decision to reorganize our schools. The CBI Preschool
(CBIP) and the Blanche Bayar Religious School (BBRS) have been and will
continue to be integral components of how we serve CBI and the broader
community, as a nurturing, joyful, and stimulating environment for your
children's social, emotional, cognitive and religious development. The
preschool, in particular, has always been a critical pipeline for growing
our synagogue.

As part of this restructuring, the position of Director of Congregational
Learning will be eliminated, and Rabbi Julie Schwarzwald will be leaving at
the end of the current school year in June 2024. The CBI Board of Trustees
has decided, given the importance of CBIP now and into the future, to hire a
preschool director who will focus exclusively on CBIP. While change can be
challenging, we will approach this transition as an opportunity. We will be
forming a search committee seeking input from preschool families as we begin
the recruitment process for our new preschool director. 

As the religious school is also a top priority for CBI, the BBRS board is
already engaged and planning for next year and will be soliciting input from
BBRS families. We have every intention to maintain individualized Hebrew
learning and the other features of BBRS that make it special. We will
identify another professional to lead BBRS. Rabbi Isenberg and Cantor
Wallach will remain fully engaged throughout the process and the Rabbi will
assume a larger supervisory role in the religious school. 

We are working together to ensure the continuity and stability of our
schools, summer camp, youth groups and other programs. 

Rabbi Julie has made significant contributions to CBI during her tenure,
wearing many hats as CBI's Director of Congregational Learning, leading both
our Preschool and our Religious School, and fostering a love of learning
throughout the CBI community. We thank her for her contributions, hard work,
dedication and commitment to CBI over the past 4+ years and continuing
through the end of this school year.  We will be building on the strong
foundation Rabbi Julie has established during her time at CBI.
