CBI Preschool and Religious School (BBRS) Referral and Tuition Promotional Offer
Great things are happening at the CBI Preschool (“CBIP”) and at the Blanche Bayar Religious School (“BBRS”) that we’d like to share with you and beyond our membership.
* We are inaugurating our very first Beginners (Not Yet Two) class this month.
* We have extended hours for any PreSchool family seeking additional flexibility from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 pm.
Exciting new things are happening at BBRS too!
* We have amazing programming for children in grades Pre-K through 7!
* Individual instruction in Hebrew is available.
* Monthly Shabbat Shelanu classes on Shabbat morning in lieu of Sunday morning classes to better incorporate our youth into the community.
Word-of-mouth has always been our best source to create awareness among new families and students.
Do you know a family in our area seeking the right preschool or religious school for their child/children? We welcome and appreciate your support to let them know about CBIP and BBRS. To show our appreciation and encourage participation among our members, through October 15, we are pleased to offer a $500 statement credit on your CBI account for each family you refer to CBIP or BBRS whose child/children enroll. New families will receive a 25% tuition reduction for this school year.
We are grateful for your support to strengthen CBIP and BBRS and our synagogue by spreading the word about our faculty, facility, programming, and the warm, nurturing environment we strive to create every day for your children.

Winter Coat Drive
Dropoff October 3rd – October 27th in the CBI Lobby
For the first time since the pandemic, the Interfaith Food Pantry of the Oranges will be hosting a coat distribution for its food pantry clients. Our goal is to collect 1,400 coats this year. Too many of our neighbors struggle to meet basic needs, and many people take having a coat for granted, until they don’t have one to shield themselves from the elements. CBI is assisting with the coat drive to share the warmth with community members in need.
* Please bring new or gently worn coats suitable for adults and children.
* NO winter accessories, please.
Coats to be delivered to the IFPO warehouse in Orange on Sunday, October 29th.

This Week’s Tip from…
The CBI Alliance for Sustainability
”I realized that plastic had become such a part of my life that it had become invisible to me.” Marco Lambertini, Director General of WWF
International 7.
We have been convinced that it is OK to use plastic, as long as we recycle. We have been duped by big oil/gas into believing our plastic is valuable, can be made into new and useful items. But, according to this article from NPR, these companies have always known that most plastic will never be recycled. <https://www.npr.org/2020/09/11/897692090/how-big-oil-misled-the-public-into-believing-plastic-would-be-recycled> https://www.npr.org/2020/09/11/897692090/how-big-oil-misled-the-public-into-believing-plastic-would-be-recycled
Our research shows that, at most, 5-8% of plastic gets recycled. And, when it is turned into new items, the old plastics shed a lot of microplastics. So, what can we do? Stop using single use plastic, bring your own reusable water bottle, and buy soda in cans, as metal recycling is highly successful. Buy as many products as possible (such as olive oil and honey) in glass bottles – (if you look hard, you can find glass tucked in among the many plastic bottles). Stop using straws. Use laundry sheets (dehydrated detergent) instead of buying large plastic jugs of detergent. Go back to using bar soap, and try shampoo in a bar. If we all start demanding that our products be packaged differently and come in more environmentally conscious forms, companies may listen - money talks!

Caring Committee of CBI
Please, let us know…
Do you know of someone in our CBI Community who is celebrating a simcha,
gave birth to a child or grandchild, is ill, has been hospitalized or suffered the loss of a loved one? The easiest way to let the clergy and staff know is to email: <mailto:lscaregiver48 at gmail.com> lscaregiver48 at gmail.com or call the office. (This one e-dress notifies the clergy, main office and Caring Committee.)
We thank our amazing Sisterhood volunteers who coordinate all of these efforts!
